Royal Wedding Viewing Party
May 19, 2018 (Saturday)

Join us to celebrate one of the biggest Commonweath events of the year!

RoyalWedding

On May 19 2018, Prince Harry and Megan Markle will exchange wedding vows at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Official invitations were printed and sent to 600 wedding guests on March 22. Have you received your invitation in the post? If not, do not fear!

Buoyed by Kensington Palace's statement that the happy couple are looking forward to "sharing their celebrations with the public", the SACCJ is very pleased to co-host the "Royal Wedding Viewing Party" with the BCCJ and other Chambers on the evening of May 19 (Tokyo time).

Thanks to the BBC, we will enjoy live coverage of the big event on screens around the venue, against a dazzling night-time backdrop of Royal Hamarikyu Gardens and Tokyo Bay, from The Conrad Tokyo's 28th floor.
Guests will enter the "wedding venue" on a transparent glass and granite pebbled passageway that leads past a window offering peep holes into the behind-the-scenes action. Once seated, they will be treated to a selection of modern British-inspired fayre, and a mouth-watering drinks package.

The wedding ceremony, timeline
12:00 UK time (2000 Japan): The wedding service, at St George's Chapel at midday, will be conducted by The Dean of Windsor, The Rt Revd David Conner.
13:00 UK time (2100) Japan: The ceremony will be followed immediately by a carriage ride through Windsor. The happy couple who will receive new titles reflecting their married status on the day, will leave Windsor Castle by carriage, via Castle Hill, along the High Street and through Windsor Town before returning along the Long Walk for their reception. “They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said.

More about the wedding day
After the carriage ride, lunch will take place at St George's Hall, hosted by HRH The Queen. Later that evening, around 200 guests are being invited to the reception at Frogmore House given by Prince Harry's father The Prince of Wales. Guests from the congregation will await the happy couple in St George's Hall, to celebrate with the first of two receptions.

The timings should go some way to allaying the fears of those concerned about a clash with the FA Cup final, with the football match likely to kick off at 17:30 UK time.
Kensington Palace said "This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters of the Bride and Groom."
