The SACCJ annual Christmas Party held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Venire Venire in Omotesando was another great party, attended by over 130 guests. We started off with Christmas Carols by marimbist Kunihiko Komori, and during the evening enjoyed the music of the exciting African band The Tanzanites Band. We'd like to thank our sponsors, Radishbo-ya, which sponsored fresh produce for the buffet and fair trade wines; South African wines from Alcotrade Trust, which sponsored South African wines; and Rooibos Marketing Limited, which provided Rooibos teas. Lucky attendees won great raffle prizes, including a fabulous diamond necklace from Kashikey; a lifestyle photosession with 37 Frames Photography; platinum jewellery from Platinum Guild International; a 12-bottle case of premium South African Wines from eWine Japan; and a miCoach Pacer and "Create your own" shoes gift certificate from Adidas!
We were honored to have with us special guest Patrick (Chamusso) Thibedi, activist whose life was the subject of Hollywood movie "Catch a Fire" and the founder of Two Sisters in South Africa, where more than 200 children whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS are in Patrick's care. A portion of the proceeds from the Christmas Party will be donated to help support them.
It was also a bittersweet evening, as we said farewell to Ambassador Gert Grobler, the SACCJ's honorary Chairperson, who has left Japan to take up a new post in Madagascar. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to have the Ambassador with us and to thank him for his invaluable support over the past years.
